Shri Atul Sahai has been appointed as an Independent Director w.e.f 29.01.2026. He is a seasoned professional with over three decades of distinguished experience in the general insurance industry. His leadership journey spans across diverse functions, including Underwriting, Claims, HR, Accounts, Information Technology, and Investments.
In his most recent role, he served as Insurance Ombudsman in Lucknow, where he played a key role in resolving policyholder grievances and upholding fairness in the insurance ecosystem. His office was ranked among the top ombudsman offices nationwide for efficiency and credibility.
Prior to that, he held the prestigious position of Chairman & Managing Director at New India Assurance. His other roles include serving as General Manager at Oriental Insurance, Chairman of the General Insurance Council and GIPSA and President of the Insurance Institute of India. He has also held board positions at prominent institutions such as GIC Housing Finance, National Insurance Academy (India), International Insurance (Singapore), and New India Assurance (Trinidad & Tobago).
Shri Atul Sahai has also played a pivotal role in leading IRDAI’s Committee on Credit Policy and contributed to Motor MISP framework.
